Lembrar e Esquecer: A Constituição da Subjetividade Feminina em uma Perspectiva da Memória em Bardon Bus, de Alice Munro

Abstract

Este artigo pretende repensar a construção da subjetividade feminina em um recorte da ficção da canadense Alice Munro, focalizando o questionamento da categorização estanque dos gêneros como fator preponderante. Para tanto, o corpus escolhido contempla o conto “Bardon Bus”, presente na coletânea Moons of Jupiter (1982). Vislumbram-se algumas considerações sobre a reconstrução de eventos passados através da memória feminina da protagonista, levando-se em consideração as implicações de uma consciência dos gêneros como papéis performáticos e questões sobre a fragilidade de uma constituição identitária fixa. Depreende-se, ainda, uma noção fragmentária da linguagem, sobretudo em um contexto de resgate de eventos passados, em que ela se apresenta como ferramenta de representação de uma subjetividade dúbia e ambígua. Parte-se de um aparato teórico que engloba autores como Carol Ann Howells, Chris Weedon, Joan Scott, Teresa de Lauretis, entre outros que trazem no bojo de suas teorias tanto os elementos acima mencionados e, sobretudo, o caráter inegável do sócio-cultural representado na literatura.

This article aims to reconsider the construction of female subjectivity in a share of the Canadian Alice Munro's fiction, focusing on the questioning of the tight categorization of gender as a major factor. For this, the chosen corpus includes the short story "Bardon Bus" present in the compilation Moons of Jupiter (1982). Some considerations will be envisioned about the reconstruction of past events through the memory of the female protagonist, taking into account the implications of an awareness of gender roles as performers, and questions about the fragility of a fixed identity constitution. It appears, still, a fragmented notion of language, especially in a context of recovery from past events, in which it is presented as a tool for representing a dubious and ambiguous subjectivity. It starts with a theoretical apparatus that includes authors such as Carol Ann Howells, Chris Weedon, Joan Scott, Teresa de Lauretis, among others, whose theories are brought to the core of both the above mentioned elements, but especially the undeniable socio-cultural character represented in the literature.
