O desafio de preservar o Cine Brasil em Caratinga: da fundação ao tombamento, da demolição à reconstrução (1947-2021)

Abstract

Essa dissertação teve como principal objetivo pesquisar a história do Cine Brasil em Caratinga. A pesquisa aborda a fundação do cinema, os conflitos causados por divisão de opiniões durante o processo de tombamento do imóvel, o processo judicial, a reconstrução e os usos do Memorial. A pesquisa teve como recorte temporal o período de 1947 a 2021. As principais fontes usadas foram as orais, a partir das entrevistas com pessoas que vivenciaram o Cine Brasil, além da pesquisa nos jornais O Município, arquivados na Biblioteca do Seminário Diocesano e Jornal Caratinga. O estudo sobre as leis que estabelecem as medidas de proteção do patrimônio cultural, a nível federal, estadual e municipal foram fundamentais para a discussão do processo de tombamento e os desdobramentos da política municipal de proteção do patrimônio cultural no município de Caratinga. As imagens e as narrativas desenvolvidas nas entrevistas realizadas durante a pesquisa resultaram na proposta de um audiovisual, produto final do mestrado, de caráter prático/intervenção social, que ficará disponível para a comunidade como um projeto informativo e educativo. O estudo sobre a memória do Cine Brasil é importante para discutir a relação social existente entre a população de Caratinga e o Cine Brasil. Palavras-chave: Cinema. História. Memória. Tombamento. Demolição. Reconstrução. Memorial.This dissertation aimed to investigate the history of Cine Brasil in the town of Caratinga. The research approaches the foundation of the cinema, as well as the conflicts caused on account of the division of opinions during its process to become a listed piece of real estate, the legal proceedings involving it, its reconstruction and its memorial uses. The research considered the time period between 1947 and 2021. The main sources hereby used were oral-based, stemming from the interviews with people who experienced Cine Brasil, besides the research in the newspapers O Munícipio, archived in the library of the Diocesan Seminary, and Jornal Caratinga. The study on the laws that establish the protection measures of cultural heritage, at the federal, state and municipal levels were fundamental for the discussion of the listing process and the consequences of the Municipal Policy for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Caratinga. The images and narratives developed in the interviews carried out during the research resulted in the proposal of an audiovisual production, the final product of the Master's, which provides practical/social intervention and will be available to the community as an informative and educational project. The study on the memory of Cine Brasil is of utmost importance to discuss the existing social relationship between the population of Caratinga and Cine Brasil. Keywords: Cinema. History. Memory.
