O rural nos museus: imaginário e narrativas em exposições museológicas

Abstract

O objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi a investigação da construção de representações sobre o rural através das narrativas e das exposições em dois museus do estado de Minas Gerais, sendo um deles o Museu de Artes e Ofícios – MAO, dedicado ao histórico do trabalho no Brasil, e o outro o Museu Rural, dedicado à agricultura familiar. O método para a coleta de dados foi baseado em Rechena (2011a) buscando identificar e categorizar as peças e coleções dos museus para a análise. Além disso, foi utilizado análise documental e entrevistas focalizadas com visitantes e funcionários dos museus. Essa pesquisa, de caráter exploratório e comparativo, utilizou a Teoria das Representações Sociais-TRS para a análise e interpretação dos dados. Durante a pesquisa de campo se identificou as estratégias de construção de narrativas de cada museu através da forma de exposição das coleções e do roteiro das visitações aliada a seus simbolismos. A pesquisa concluiu que cada instituição constrói sua própria representação sobre o espaço rural que é direcionada pelo imaginário social sobre o mundo rural e pelos objetivos de cada museu. Os dois espaços utilizam jogos de luze sombra para dar mais ênfase nos pontos que mais se aproximam de sua proposta institucional. Apesar disso, os museus apresentam vários pontos de contato em suas distintas representações sobre o rural como, por exemplo, na utilização de acervos similares, nas narrativas sobre o trabalho e na própria história da criação das duas instituições. As entrevistas com visitantes apontam para uma representação saudosista do rural que é visto como um espaço com características desejáveis para vida. A característica que se destaca em ambas as instituições é o rural como lugar de trabalho através da ideologia que “o trabalho dignifica o homem”. Palavras-Chave: Sociologia Rural. Museus. The main objective of this research was to investigate the construction of representations about the rural through narratives and exhibitions in two museums in the state of Minas Gerais, one of them being the Museu de Artes e Ofícios - MAO, dedicated to the history of work in Brazil, and the other one, the Museu Rural, dedicated to family farming.The method for data collection was based on Rechena (2011a) seeking to identify and categorize the pieces and collections of museums for analysis. In addition, documentary analysis and focused interviews with visitors and museum staff were used. This exploratory and comparative research used the Theory of Social Representations-TRS for the analysis and interpretation of data. During the field research, the narrative construction strategies of each museum were identified through the way of displaying the collections and the visitation itinerary combined with their symbolism. The research concluded that each institution builds its own representation of the rural space that is guided by the social imaginary about the rural world and the objectives of each museum. The two spaces use games of light and shadow to emphasize the points that are closest to their institutional proposal. Despite this, both museums have several points of contact in their different representations of the rural, for example, in the use of similar collections, in narratives about work and in the very history of the creation of the two institutions. Interviews with visitors point to a nostalgic representation of the rural that is seen as a space with desirable characteristics for life. The characteristic that stands out in both institutions is the rural as a place of work through the ideology that “work dignifies man”. Keywords: Rural Sociology. Museum. Social Representations.
