Brasil na Antártica: a divulgação científica sobre as mudanças climáticas na mídia online

Abstract

Este trabalho se propôs a analisar como ocorre o processo de recontextualização das pesquisas científicas realizadas no âmbito do Programa Antártico Brasileiro (Proantar) acerca das mudanças climáticas em mídias online, tomando como base matérias jornalísticas publicadas pelos veículos: Estadão, O Globo, Folha de S. Paulo e G1. Foram selecionados 16 textos, entre reportagens e notícias, analisados, por um lado, a partir de seus critérios noticiáveis, com o intuito de identificar alguns parâmetros utilizados na escolha do que é publicado e, por outro lado, a partir da perspectiva linguístico-discursiva, para compreender como as informações científicas são tratadas pelas mídias online selecionadas. Para a realização da análise, foram utilizados autores que exploram pressupostos básicos da atividade e linguagem jornalística (BELTRÃO, 1980; BAHIA, 2009; ERBOLATO, 2004; LAGE, 2001; MARQUES DE MELO, 2003). Especificamente para a análise dos Critérios de Noticiabilidade científica recorreu-se a Burkett (1990). Na análise discursiva, foram utilizados os pressupostos da Análise do Discurso da Divulgação Científica (CALSAMIGLIA, 1997; CASSANY, LÓPEZ e MARTÍ, 2000; CASSANY, 2003; CATALDI, 2007a e b, 2011, 2016) a partir dos procedimentos linguístico- discursivos de expansão, redução e variação e das estratégias divulgativas. Ao final do trabalho, destacam-se algumas questões: 1) Os critérios noticiáveis mais influentes foram: Significado e Necessidade de Conhecimento. A predominância do Significado evidencia o sentido dos fatos científicos e suas implicações sociais, econômicas, políticas etc. Já o critério Necessidade de Conhecimento demonstra o interesse em atender ao desejo do público pelo consumo de informações científicas, sejam curiosidades ou questões que impactam a sociedade; 2) Quanto aos procedimentos linguístico-discursivos, foi verificada uma maior incidência da expansão a partir, principalmente, das estratégias divulgativas de contextualização e modalização. A primeira indica o esforço das mídias em garantir que o público compreenda o contexto e a relevância das informações, a segunda revela uma abordagem carregada de elementos subjetivos; 3) A cobertura apresentou-se pouco voltada à comunicação de riscos e efeitos deletérios decorrentes das mudanças climáticas e do aquecimento global. This study aims to analyze the process of recontextualization the scientific research conducted by the Brazilian Antarctic Program (Proantar) on climate change in online media, based on news published by the media: Estadão, O Globo, Folha de S. Paulo and G1. Sixteen texts were selected, among reports and news, they were analyzed, on the one hand, according to their news criteria, in order to identify some parameters used in the choice of what is published and, on the other hand, based on the linguistic-discursive perspective, to understand how scientific information is treated by the selected online media. For the analysis, authors who explored basic assumptions of journalistic activity and language were used (BELTRÃO, 1980; BAHIA, 2009; ERBOLATO, 2004; LAGE, 2001; MARQUES DE MELO, 2003). Burkett (1990) was specifically used for the analysis of the Scientific News Criteria. In the discursive analysis, the assumptions of the Discourse Analysis of Science Communication (CALSAMIGLIA, 1997; CASSANY, LÓPEZ e MARTÍ, 2000; CASSANY, 2003; CATALDI, 2007a e b, 2011, 2016) considering the linguistic-discursive procedures of expansion, reduction and variation, and from the divulgative strategies were used. At the end of the assignment, some points were observed: 1) The most influential news criteria were: Meaning and Need for Knowledge. The predominance of Meaning evidence the scientific facts meaning and its social, economic, political implications. The criteria Necessity of Knowledge demonstrates the interest in filling the public's desire for the consumption of scientific information, whether curiosities or issues that impact society; 2) As for the linguistic-discursive procedures, a greater incidence of expansion was verified from, mainly, the divulgative strategies of contextualization and modalization. The first indicates the effort of the media to ensure that the public understands the context and the relevance of the information, the second one reveals an approach loaded with subjective elements; 3) The coverage was a little focused on the communication of risks and damaging effects arising from climate change and global warming.
