Distribuição do gênero Callithrix no estado de Minas Gerais: introdução de espécies e hibridação

Abstract

A distribuição natural de género Callithrix ainda apresenta muitas lacunas, e os limites de distribuição de cada espécie permanecem obscuros. Este trabalho apresenta novas informações e sugestões sobre a distribuição das espécies de Callithrix, e de seus híbridos, em Minas Gerais. Utilizou-se diferentes fontes de informação para a coleta de dados: pesquisa on-line, questionários, revisão de literatura, registro fotográfico e inspeções in loco. Das 437 respostas obtidas com o questionário, 11,4% indicaram a presença de algum híbrido de Callithrix em Minas Gerais. A distribuição dos híbridos acompanha as principais rotas terrestres utilizadas para o escomento do tráfico de animais silvestres. Nossos resultados também sugerem que a distribuição dos híbridos de Callithrix coincide com a de algumas espécies ameaçadas de extinção, como os C. aurita e C. flaviceps. Durante desenvolvimento da pesquisa, os autores receberam 98 registros fotográficos, 17 cidades foram visitadas e um total de 106 pesquisas científicas foram encontradas. Com relação à distribuição geográfica das espécies de Callithrix, os dados sugerem que o C. penicillata e C. geoffroyi foram introduzidos em várias regiões do estado. No entanto, acredita-se que talvez esteja ocorrendo uma expansão natural do C. penicillata em direção à Mata Atlântica. O C. jacchus é a única espécie de Callithrix que não ocorrem naturalmente em Minas Gerais, mas é amplamente introduzida no estado. Os dados também indicaram a simpatria parcial do C. penicillata e C. geoffroyi em relação a todas as espécies do gênero. O C. aurita foi parcialmente simpátrico ao C. flaviceps, e C. kuhlii foi completamente alopátrico aos C. aurita e C. flaviceps. Os dados apresentados são de grande importância para futuros estudos sobre conservação da biodiversidade, uma vez que o estado de Minas Gerais tem uma grande diversidade de espécies de Callithrix, e os relatos de introdução de espécies e hibridização são cada vez mais frequentes. No entanto, ainda existem questões a serem verificadas em estudos in loco, uma vez que não foi possível verificar completamente a relação entre as espécies em cada região discutida.

The natural distribution of genus Callithrix still has many gaps, and the limits of distribution of each species are remaining unclear. This paper presents new information and suggestion about the distribution of Callithrix, and its hybrids, in Minas Gerais. The data collection was made using different information sources: online research, questionnaire, literature review, photographic record and in loco inspections. From 437 responses of questionnaire, 11.4% indicated the presence of some hybrid Callithrix in Minas Gerais. The distribution of hybrids accompanies land routes used to wildlife traffic. Our findings also suggested that the distribution of the hybrids Callithrix coincides with some endangered species, such as C. aurita and C. flaviceps. During the course of research the authors received 98 photographic records, 17 cities were visited and a total of 106 scientific searches were found. With respect to the geographical distribution of Callithrix species, the data suggested that C. penicillata and C. geoffroyi has been introduced in several regions of Minas Gerais. However, it is believed that there might also be a natural expansion of the C. penicillata toward the Atlantic Forest. The C. jacchus is the only species of Callithrix that does not occur naturally in Minas Gerais, but it is widely introduced in the state. The data also indicated that C. penicillata and C. geoffroyi were partially sympatric with all species of the genus. The C. aurita was partially sympatric with C. flaviceps, and C. kuhlii was completely allopatric with both C. aurita and C. flaviceps. The data presented are of great importance for future studies of biodiversity conservation, once the state of Minas Gerais has a great diversity of species of Callithrix, and the reports of introducing species and hybridization are increasingly frequent. However, there are still issues to be verified in studies in loco, once it was not possible to verify the complete relationship between the species in each region discussed.
