Abstract
No presente trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar a eficiência na remoção de coliformes em sistemas alagados construídos (SACs) cultivados com lírio amarelo (Hemerocallis flava), quando submetidos a diferentes tempos de detenção hidráulica e taxas de carregamento orgânico de esgoto doméstico. As taxas de carregamento orgânico aplicadas foram 44; 98; 230 e 395 kg ha-1 d-1 de DBO, o que corresponderam, respectivamente, a tempos de detenção hidráulica de 3,9; 2,0; 1,0 e 0,75 d-1. Para avaliação do desempenho dos SACs na remoção de microrganismos, realizaram-se as contagens de coliformes totais (CT) e E. coli. Após análises dos resultados concluiu-se que, nos SACs onde a água residuária foi submetida às menores taxas de carregamento orgânico (44 e 98 kg ha-1 d-1 de DBO) ou submetida aos maiores tempos de detenção hidráulica (3,9; 2,0 dias), foram obtidas as maiores eficiências na remoção de CT e E. coli. As remoções médias de CT e E.coli foram, respectivamente, de 1,0 a 4,0 e 2,0 a 4,0 unidades logarítmicas.
This study was done to evaluate the efficacy of removing coliforms from constructed wetlands (CWs) planted to yellow lily (Hemerocallis flava), when subjected to different water retention duration and organic loading rates (OLR) of domestic sewage. The OLR was 44, 98, 230 or 395 kg ha-1 d-1 of BOD, which corresponds to water retention duration of 3.9, 2.0, 1.0 and 0.75 d-1. The performance of the CWs in removing microorganisms was evaluated by counting, total coliforms (TC) and E. coli. The data were subjected to analysis of variance and descriptive analysis. The CWs in which the wastewater was subjected to lower OLRs (44 or 98 kg ha-1 d-1 of BOD) or to longer water retention duration (3.9 or 2.0 days) were most efficient in removing TC and E. coli. The average removal of TC and E. coli varied from, respectively, 1.0 to 4.0 and 2.0 to 4.0 log units.
