Abstract

This work proposes the delimitation of climatic units in the mesoregion of the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, based on the methodological proposal developed by Novais (2019). The methodology of this classification is based on the delimitation of climatic units organized in a hierarchical way, starting from more comprehensive areas up to the smaller geographical scales, being: Zonal Climate, Climate Domains, Subdomains, Types, Subtypes, Mesoclimate and Topoclimate. The parameters used to define the climatic units consider the average temperature of the coldest month (TMMMF), the number of dry months, the influence of atmospheric systems and their effects on rainfall, and on cold fronts with the possibility of frost formation. Climatological data comes from primary sources, such as the fixed stations of the National Institute of Metorology (INMET) and the National Water Agency (ANA), and secondary sources, in this case the reanalysis data from the Climatologies at high resolution for the algorithm earth's land surface areas (CHELSA). It was possible to define four domains in the study area, namely: Tropical Domain, Soft Tropical Domain, Subtropical Domain and Cold Subtropical Domain. The classification allowed the beginning of a process of refinement of the climatic classification for the area, offering a greater level of detail.
