Parâmetros e tendências genéticas de características morfológicas e de andamento em equinos da raça Mangalarga Marchador

Abstract
A raça Mangalarga Marchador é a principal raça de sela brasileira, possuindo o maior número de animais e a maior importância no âmbito cultural e econômico. Neste contexto, estimativas de parâmetros genéticos com respectivas tendências genéticas para características morfológicas são bastante relevantes para garantir o sucesso desta raça. Quinze características divididas em características morfológicas e tipos de marcha foram utilizadas no presente estudo. Os tipos de marcha foram classificados de acordo com as diferenças na movimentação simultânea dos membros durante o movimento. Foi utilizada a seguinte classificação: “Marcha Batida” (MB) e “Marcha Picada” (MP). Um total de 211.246 animais foi registrado pela Associação Brasileira dos Criadores de Cavalos Mangalarga Marchador (ABCCMM), no período de 1950 a 2018. Os modelos uni e multicaracterístico mistos foram aplicados para estimar os componentes genéticos de (co) variância. Os grupos contemporâneos foram compostos por sexo, ano de nascimento e ano da avaliação oficial da ABCCMM. Os efeitos fixos foram dados pelos referidos termos e registro técnico. As estimativas de herdabilidade (h2) com respectivos erros-padrão variaram de 0.21 ± 0,02 a 0,23 ± 0,02 para animais classificados como “marcha picada”; e de 0,19 ± 0,01 a 0,22 ± 0,01 para “marcha batida”. Com relação às correlações genéticas estimadas entre as características morfológicas, em geral, observamos baixa magnitude (incluindo zero) para os animais classificados como "marcha batida" (-0,29 ± 0,18 a 0,25 ± 0,09) e "marcha picada" (-0,23 ± 0,12 a 0,24 ± 0,16). Na análise de tendência genética, observa-se que foram positivos tanto para os tipos "marcha batida" quanto "marcha picada"; indicando um ganho genético no período avaliado (1950 a 2018). Em resumo, os resultados relatados indicam melhoramento genético da raça Mangalarga Marchador e revelam estimativas de parâmetros genéticos viáveis em termos de ganhos genéticos e adequação dos critérios de seleção usados. The Mangalarga Marchador breed is the main Brazilian saddle breed, having the largest number of animals and the greatest importance under a cultural and economic framework. In this context, genetic parameter estimates with respective genetic trends for morphological traits is quite relevant to ensure the success of this breed. Fifteen traits divided into morphological features and gait types were used in the present study. The gait types were classified according to differences on simultaneously movement of the limbs during the movement. The following classification was used here: “Marcha Batida” (MB) and “Marcha Picada” (MP). A total of 211,246 animals were recorded by Brazilian Association of Mangalarga Marchador Horse Breeders (ABCCMM), from 1950 to 2018. The single and multi- trait mixed models were applied to estimate the genetic (co)variance components. The contemporary groups were composed by sex, year of birth and year of the official evaluation by ABCCMM. The fixed effects were given by these mentioned terms and technician registration. Heritability estimates (h2) with respective standard-errors ranged from 0.21±0.02 to 0.23±0.02 for animals classified as “marcha picada”; and from 0.19±0.01 to 0.22±0.01 for “marcha batida”. With respect to the estimated genetic correlations between morphological traits, in general, we observed low magnitude (including zero) for animals classified as "marcha batida" (-0.29±0.18 to 0.25±0.09) and "marcha picada" (-0.23±0.12 to 0.24±0.16). In the analysis of genetic trend, it is observed that they were positive for both "marcha batida" and "marcha picada" types; thus indicating a genetic gain over the evaluated period (1950 to 2018).
