A importância dos conceitos da geografia para a aprendizagem de conteúdos geográficos escolares

Abstract

A discussão conceitual no interior da ciência geográfica sempre apresentou importância significativa, já que estes são entendidos como instrumentos fundamentais para compreender a realidade humana. Os principais conceitos que estiveram presentes desde a formalização da Geografia como disciplina científica, ainda hoje se mantém como bases para o conhecimento geográfico. Os conceitos principais são: espaço, território, região, paisagem e lugar; além destes, também as discussões sobre territorialidade, associada ao conceito de território e as escalas e redes geográficas. Também na Geografia escolar estes conceitos representam parte importante do conteúdo, embora nem sempre sejam diretamente abordados. Cabe salientar que o estudo dos conceitos geográficos não deve ocorrer sem associação às situações da realidade e das vivências humanas, sem as quais perde todo o sentido. A abordagem direta dos conceitos, associados aos conteúdos estudados na Geografia, torna-os instrumentos para a efetiva aprendizagem e permite compreender mais efetivamente a sociedade.

The conceptual discussion inside the geographical science always presented significant importance, since these are understood as fundamental instruments to understand the human reality. The principal concepts that were present from the beginning of the Geography as scientific discipline, and they are still today the bases for the geographical knowledge. The main concepts are: space, territory, region, landscape and place; besides these, also the discussions about the territoriality inside of the territory concept and on the geographical scales and nets. Also in the case of the Geography in the schools these concepts are important part of the content, although not always they are approached directly. The study of the geographical concepts should not happen without association to the situations of the reality and of the human existences, without which it would lose the whole sense. The direct approach of the concepts, associated to the contents geographics, turns them instruments for the effective learning it allows better understanding about the society.
