Abstract
Exergetic analysis was evaluated as a tool for integrated resources planning (IRP). The energy performance based only on the first principle of thermodynamics ignores the “quality” of the energy used. The performance based on the second principle of thermodynamics indicates the maximum capacity to carry out work. Thus, the optimum results can be obtained by planning energy systems combining resource and final use of energy.
