Estrutura e ultraestrutura do oviduto de fêmeas de Hemidactylus mabouia (Reptilia, Gekkonidae) no período vitelogênico, com ênfase na estocagem e fagocitose de espermatozóides

Abstract

O aparelho reprodutor das fêmeas de Hemidactylus mabouia é composto pelos ovários e um par de ovidutos que são histologicamente divididos em quatro porções distintas denominadas, infundíbulo, tuba uterina, útero e vagina. O infundíbulo, região anterior do oviduto, se abre na cavidade celomática e recebe o ovócito liberado no momento da ovulação. A tuba uterina é revestida por epitélio simples que se invagina para formar estruturas especializadas, as criptas de estocagem de espermatozóides. No fundo das criptas é possível observar espermatozóides organizados em feixes, com as cabeças muito próximas das células epiteliais e as caudas paralelas voltadas para a luz da tuba uterina. O útero, região glandular do oviduto, é responsável pela produção e deposição da casca do ovo. A região final do oviduto, a vagina, possui dois segmentos caracterizados como anterior e posterior. A vagina anterior é revestida por um epitélio simples composto por células ciliadas e dois tipos de células não ciliadas caracterizadas como secretoras e fagocitárias. As células não ciliadas fagocitárias são responsáveis pela fagocitose de um grande número de espermatozóides encontrados nessa região. Esse processo provavelmente está relacionado a eliminação de espermatozóides supranumerários ou defeituosos. A vagina posterior, região que se abre na cloaca, é a única região do oviduto composta por epitélio estratificado. O estudo de aspectos morfológicos do aparelho reprodutor feminino de H. mabouia contribui, juntamente com trabalhos de cunho ecológico e comportamental, para ampliar os conhecimentos da biologia reprodutiva dessa espécie exótica, proporcionando ferramentas para comparações interespecíficas, além de estratégias de controle e manejo.

The reproductive system of females of Hemidactylus mabouia consists of a pair of ovaries and oviducts that are histologically divided into four distinct portions denominated, infundibulum, uterine tube, uterus and vagina. The infundibulum, anterior region of the oviduct, opens into the coelomic cavity and receives the oocyte released at the time of ovulation. The uterine tube is lined by simple epithelium that invaginates to form specialized structures, the crypts of sperm storage. At the bottom of the crypts can be observed sperm arranged in bundles with their heads very close to the epithelial cells and tails oriented parallel to the light of the uterine tube. The uterus, glandular region of the oviduct, is responsible for production and deposition of the eggshell. The final region of the oviduct, the vagina, has two segments characterized as anterior and posterior. The anterior vagina is lined by a simple epithelium composed of ciliated cells and two types of non-ciliated cells characterized as secretory and phagocytic. The non-ciliated phagocytic cells are responsible for phagocytosis of large numbers of sperm found in this region. This process is probably related to the elimination of supernumerary or defective sperm. The posterior vagina, which opens into the cloaca, is the only region of the oviduct consists of stratified epithelium. The study of morphologic aspects of the female reproductive tract of H. mabouia contributes, along with works of ecological and behavioral, to expand the knowledge of the reproductive biology of this exotic species, providing tools for interspecific comparisons, and strategies for control and management.
