Impactos da lei dos medicamentos genéricos sobre a estrutura de mercado e a conduta da indústria farmacêutica no Brasil

Abstract

A estrutura de mercado predominante na economia brasileira é oligopólica, caracterizando-se pela presença, em seus setores produtivos, de poucos vendedores dominando o mercado. Este é o caso da indústria farmacêutica instalada no Brasil. O presente trabalho procura analisar em seu primeiro capítulo a importância da indústria farmacêutica para a economia brasileira, em termos econômicos e sociais. O segundo capítulo faz um apanhado sobre a indústria farmacêutica no Brasil destacando-se um breve histórico e suas características. No capítulo posterior, apresenta-se a metodologia utilizada para a análise tendo como referencial teórico o estudo Estrutura-Conduta-Desempenho da Organização Industrial (OI) e como referencial analítico as análises da Razão de Concentração (Crk) e do índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI), além da análise de Turnover que demonstra a troca das principais empresas farmacêuticas na primeira posição da indústria. O quarto capítulo esboça a análise dos resultados encontrados sobre a estrutura, conduta e o desempenho da indústria. Por fim, mas não menos importante, destaca-se a conclusão do trabalho ressaltando alterações significativas na estrutura, conduta e desempenho da indústria farmacêutica no Brasil.

The structure of predominant market in the Brazilian economy is oligopoly, being characterized by the presence, in their productive sections, of few sallers dominating the market. This is the case of the pharmaceutical industry installed in Brazil. The present work search to analyze in his first chapter the importance of the pharmaceutical industry for the Brazilian economy, in economical and social terms. The second chapter is a demonstration of the pharmaceutical industry in Brazil standing out a historical abbreviation and its characteristics. In the subsequent chapter, it comes the methodology used for the analysis tends as theoretical reference the study Structure-conduct-performance of the Industrial Organization (HI) and as analytical reference the analyses of the Reason of Concentration (Crk) and of the index of Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI), besides the Turnover analysis that demonstrates the change of the main pharmaceutical companies in the first position of the industry. The fourth chapter sketches the analysis of the results found on the structure, conduct and the acting of the industry. Finally, but not less important, it stands out the conclusion of the work emphasizing significant alterations in the structure, conduct and acting of the pharmaceutical industry in Brazil.
