Abstract
Introduction: The technical scout is an important tool to guide training processes and modify strategies during games. The variables observed and analyzed by the technical scout can serve as an indicator for understanding the aspects that affect the results of the games. Objective: Identify how the technical scout can help to understand the final result of matches played in the 2019 FIFA® World Cup - U-17. Methodology: The sample was composed of 11 variables provided by the OPTA© system and available on the FIFA website were analyzed - https://pt.fifa.com/u17worldcup/ - (Number of goals; On goal kicks; Outbound kicks; Blocked kicks; Balls on the crossbar; Corner kicks; Offsides; Possession of the ball; Yellow cards; Red cards and committed fouls). The collected data were registered in Excel spreadsheets for Windows® 2016. To verify the normality of data distribution, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used. For inferential analysis, the KruskalWallis, Mann-Whitney and Pearson correlation tests were used. The SPSS 24.0 software was used and the significance index was p<0.005. Results: The results indicate that the variables (Goals, Kicks, on goal Kicks and Outbound Kicks) have a stronger association with the final result of the matches. Furthermore, the correlation data point to a moderate and positive correlation between the results and the number of goals; low positive correlation between the results and the number of kicks, right kicks and out kicks. A low positive correlation was also observed between the results and possession of the ball. Finally, there was a low and negative correlation between the results and the number of yellow cards. Conclusion: The teams that present better indexes in the variables (Goals, Kicks, On goal Kicks and Outbound Kicks) had better chances of winning in the FIFA® World Cup-Under-17 matches in 2019.
