Among the diseases affecting this crop, white mold, caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, stands out due to its high potential for yield losses and the difficulty of control, mainly because of the formation of sclerotia capable of surviving in the soil for long periods. Although chemical control is widely used, biological control using Trichoderma spp. represents a promising alternative for integrated disease management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of fungicides and isolates of Trichoderma asperellum and Trichoderma harzianum in controlling Sclerotinia sclerotiorum under in vitro conditions, as well as to assess the growth response of Trichoderma isolates under different fungicide doses. The experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD). The first experiment con-sisted of seven treatments with five replicates: T1 – control inoculated with the patho-gen; T2 – application of T. asperellum in the presence of the pathogen; T3 – applica-tion of T. harzianum in the presence of the pathogen; T4 – application of the fungicide Fluazinam in the presence of the pathogen; T5 – application of the fungicide Pro-cymidone in the presence of the pathogen; T6 – control containing only T. asperellum; and T7 – control containing only T. harzianum. The regression experiment evaluated five fungicide doses (0, 12.5, 25, 50, and 100% of the recommended label dose). The assays included in vitro control tests (arena test), fungicide mortality tests, and evalu-ation of volatile metabolites. Mycelial growth was measured, and the data were sub-jected to analysis of variance, with means compared using Tukey’s test and regres-sion analysis at a 5% significance level. The results showed that T. asperellum did not differ statistically from the control regarding pathogen mycelial growth, whereas T. harzianum significantly reduced growth. In the volatile metabolite assay, only T. harzianum significantly reduced mycelial growth compared to the control. The fungicide Fluazinam completely inhibited pathogen growth, while Procymidone significantly reduced mycelial growth without complete suppression. In the dose response assay, greater growth of Trichoderma isolates was observed at lower fungicide concentrations. Overall, the fungicides showed a greater direct fungitoxic effect under in vitro conditions. However, the results reinforce the potential of Trichoderma spp., especially T. harzianum, as biological control agents, highlighting the importance of compatibility between chemical and biological methods in the integrated management of white mold in common bean crops.
