Participação de aposentados nas transferências de recursos nas famílias

Abstract

Este trabalho analisou o papel de homens e mulheres aposentados nas transferências de recursos entre gerações. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas com 78 aposentados residentes no município de Viçosa/MG. Verificou-se que 63,7% das mulheres tomaram empréstimos para ajudar os filhos enquanto apenas 30,7% dos homens utilizaram o empréstimo com essa finalidade. A percepção dos filhos quanto à dívida assumida com pais e mães varia: quando a ajuda foi oferecida pelo pai, 26,7% dos filhos devolveram a quantia emprestada; enquanto, quando essa ajuda foi oferecida pela mãe, o percentual de devolução caiu para 14,3%. Percebeu- -se que os apoios familiares são, em grande parte, constitutivos de identidade feminina.

This paper assessed the role of retired men and women on resource transfer among generations. The data were collected through interviews with 78 retired residents of Viçosa/MG. We verified that 63.7% of the women had made loans to support their adult children whereas only 30.7% of the men made use of the loans for this same purpose. The perception of the children regarding the debt assumed with their parents varies: when support was offered by the father, 26.7% of the children paid back the same amount of money they had borrowed; when support was offered by the mother, the percentage of devolution dropped to 14.3%. We observed that family support is largely constitutive of the female identity.
