Simulação numérica do desempenho de ventiladores centrífugos com mudança no tipo de voluta: normal e com reentrância

Abstract

Ventiladores centrífugos são máquinas amplamente utilizadas em diversos setores da indústria. Devido sua importância e ao fato de o uso de energia elétrica ser uma preocupação nos dias atuais, a busca por melhores rendimentos nestas máquinas faz-se necessário. O objetivo é avaliar a influência do tipo da voluta, normal e com reentrância, no rendimento de ventiladores centrífugos por meio de simulação numérica por técnicas de CFD. O estudo comparativo entre estes dois tipos de volutas ainda é escasso. Para cada tipo de voluta, variou-se a vazão mássica de saída, e, assim, montou-se as curvas diferença de pressão e rendimento. Também foram analisadas as distribuições de pressão e velocidades. Os resultados indicaram uma superioridade da voluta normal.

Centrifugal fans are machines widely used in many industry sectors. Due to its importance and the fact that the use of electric energy is a concern nowadays, the search for better performance in these machines is necessary. The objective is evaluate the influence of the volute type, normal and with indentation, on centrifugal fans performance through numerical simulation using CFD techniques. The comparative study between these two types of volutes is still scarce. For each type of volute, the mass flow was varied, and thus the difference pressure and yeld curves were set up. Pressure and velocity distributions were also analyzed. The results indicated a superiority of the normal volute.
