A inserção protestante em Minas Gerais – Notas para debate

Abstract

Este artigo tem por finalidade realizar apontamentos sobre a inserção do protestantismo em Minas Gerais. Para tanto, buscou-se pensar a vinda de imigrantes protestantes e, posteriormente, o trabalho realizado pelos missionários presbiterianos que chegaram ao país, principalmente, a partir da segunda metade do século XIX. Ao longo deste estudo, assim como grande parte dos trabalhos tem assinalado, observou-se que a assimilação desses valores se deu de modo diferenciado neste espaço quando em contraste com as grandes cidades da mesma época.

This article intended to make notes about the Protestantism insertion in Minas Gerais. For this purpose, it was considered the Protestant immigrants coming and later the Presbyterian missionaries’ work who arrived in the country, mainly from the second half of the XIX century. Throughout the study, as well as the most researches have shown, it was observed that the assimilation of these values was given differently in this local when in contrast with the great cities of the same epoch.
