Abstract
The picture of social vulnerability faced by condemned and the prison problems stand out the importance of reflection on social networks. Accordingly, the objective was to characterize the morphology and the role played by social networks in the process of social reintegration of inmates of the common prison system in Piumhi/MG and the Association of Protection and Assistance to the Convicted (APAC) in Viçosa/MG. The research exploratory-descriptive involved 23 subjects, being used desk research, semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The results showed that the relationship of trust between social actors create the conditions for the establishment of networks, with predominance of the call “close network”, which represents a strategy of production, work and social reproduction. It is concluded that social networks, with lesser dimension and density, promote social reintegration, based on the acquisition of employment and return to family and social life, because they encourage close relationships, sense of belonging and recognition.
