Abstract
This research aims to present the structuring of the didactic instructional proposal “Polymers: the materials that transformed the world”, articulating an interdisciplinary and contextualized discussion addressed to the High School. Regarding the methodological perspective, we have a qualitative approach, with the data gathered in books and scientific articles to support the production of the didactic instructional material. This was done through internet and libraries searches, in dialogue with the current demands for Science and Chemistry Education, highlighting the competencies discussed in the Brazilian National Base Common Curricular (BNBCC) as guiding this proposal. Other points that supported the elaboration of the didactic instructional material were the importance of Scientific Literacy and the discussions related to the critical and citizen development, both widespread in Science Education. This allowed us to establish a dialogue with different cultures and socio-cultural experiences that permeate the School. We believe that the actions proposed in this didactic material will favor the development of students' critical thinking, in addition to fostering a greater interest by Sciences.
