O Conceito de infinito: uma abordagem para a Educação Básica

Abstract

O infinito sempre foi um tema cercado por polêmicas. Esta dissertação visa apresentar aos professores da Educação Básica, informações associadas ao conceito de infinito, destacar a importância da construção deste conceito, bem como propor sugestões de como abordar este assunto em sala de aula. Foi desenvolvida uma conceituação de infinito utilizando uma aborda- gem mais simples e objetiva, tornando-a mais compreensiva a professores e alunos dos Ensinos Fundamental e Médio. No desenvolver deste trabalho são apresentados alguns conceitos mate- máticos introdutórios sobre a noção de infinito, e uma breve evolução histórica deste conceito. Também são apresentadas situações em que é indispensável a aplicação do conceito de infinito, como em conjuntos numéricos, sequências e séries. É realizada de forma simples, mas rigo- rosa, a construção do conjunto dos números naturais, do conjunto dos números inteiros, e do conjunto dos números racionais, além de abordar as sequências e séries numéricas. Ao final da pesquisa é reafirmada a importância do conceito de infinito estar agregado ao conhecimento matemático de alunos dos Ensinos Fundamental e Médio, e apresentadas sugestões de como trabalhar o assunto em sala de aula.

The infinite always been a subject surrounded by controversy. This thesis aims to present to the teachers of the Middle and High School, information associated with the concept of infinity, highlight the importance of construction of this concept, and propose suggestions on how to address this issue in the classroom. One infinity concept was developed using a simpler, more objective approach, making it the most comprehensive teachers and students of the Middle and High School. In developing this paper we present some introductory mathematical concepts on the notion of infinity, and a brief historical evolution of this concept. Also featured are situations where it is essential to apply the concept of infinity, as in numerical sets, sequences and series. It is performed in a simple, but accurate, the construction of the set of natural numbers, the set of integers, and the set of rational numbers, and address sequences and numerical series. At the end of the study reaffirms the importance of the concept of infinity be added to the mathematical knowledge of students of the Middle and High School, and presented suggestions on how to work it in the classroom.
