Cadmium, copper and zinc ions at high concentrations partially released scarified freshly-harvested seeds ofStylosanthes humilis from physiological dormancy. This response to toxic metals increased along with seed postharvest ageing. Cobalt and silver ions, and abscisic acid impaired metal-promoted germination.en
