Anatomia funcional da cavidade bucofaringeana de Hoplias malabaricus (Bloch, 1794) (Characiformes, Erythrinidae)

Abstract

Neste trabalho foi estudada a anatomia funcional da cavidam bucofaringeana de um peixe teleósteo nativo, Hoplias malabaricus, de hábito alimentar carnívoro, ictiófago, que deglute presas inteiras. As principais adaptações anatômicas da cavidade bucofaringeana dessa especie ao hábito alimentar são: boca terminal e ampla fenda bucal, lábios delgados; dentição oral desenvolvida, em dentes cônicos e caninos; aparelho dentária faringe ano com dentes cônicos; presença de dentes no palato e de placas dentígeras na língua e ao longo de ambas as faces dos arcos branquiais; rastros branquiais pouco numerosos e portadores de dentículos; e ausência de relevos acentuados na mucosa.

The functional anatomy of the buceo-pharyngeal cavity of a native teleostean fish, Hoplias malabaricus, with a piscivorous feeding habit, swallowing whole preys, was examined. The main anatomic adaptations of the bucco-pharyngeal cavity of this species to the feeding habit are: large and terminal mouth; line lips; developed, oral dentition with eonic and canine teeth; mastigatory pharyngeal apparatus with eonic teeth; presence of palatial teeth and the tooth plates at the tongue and along both sides of the gill-arches; few gill-rakers and with denticules; and absence of prominent folds at the mucosa.
