A relação rio-cidade: reflexões sobre o Rio Manhuaçu

Abstract

A presente pesquisa propôs uma investigação do cenário no qual se encontram os sistemas fluviais urbanos, frente aos conflitos gerados pelo adensamento urbano sem planejamento. Abordou conceitos de paisagem urbana, relacionando a importância da harmonia entre homem e meio, com a participação dos cursos d’água na composição da imagem das cidades. A pesquisa, de caráter exploratório e natureza quali-quantitativa, teve como objeto de estudo a microrregião à qual pertence o município de Manhuaçu-MG, com foco no seu rio no trecho compreendido dentro dos limites da cidade. Possuiu como objetivo principal, identificar e avaliar a relação da cidade com seu rio, buscando compreender as dinâmicas existentes entre eles. Para isto, buscou-se, inicialmente, compreender a inter-relação rio-cidade ao longo dos anos, a partir de uma investigação do contexto histórico regional. Na sequência, foi realizada uma análise da paisagem atual do rio Manhuaçu, em trechos específicos, confrontando-a com os dados históricos coletados. Após esta etapa, foi realizada uma investigação comportamental do espaço, através de indagações feitas junto aos usuários e/ou moradores dos trechos estudados, buscando compreender sua percepção com relação à participação do rio na dinâmica da paisagem. Observou-se que o processo de evolução de Manhuaçu contribuiu para a retirada do rio da paisagem da cidade, tendo como resultado sua exclusão também do imaginário coletivo. A partir dos questionamentos, constatou-se que a população mais velha possui maior proximidade afetiva com o rio, relacionando-o a memórias positivas, enquanto a população mais jovem associa-o principalmente a aspectos negativos. Deste modo, observou ser necessária a reinserção do curso d’água à imagem da cidade, para que a população possa mantê-lo em suas memórias positivas.This research proposes an investigation about the scenario in which there are no urban river systems, in face of the conflicts generated by the unplanned urban densification. To approach concepts of urban landscape, to relate the importance of harmony between man and environment, with participation of watercourses in the composition of the image of cities. An exploratory research with a qualitative and quantitative nature had as its object of study a microregion to belong to the municipality of Manhuaçu-MG, focusing on its river and no stretch within the city limits. Its main objective was to identify and evaluate a relationship between the city and its river, seeking to understand how dynamics exist between them. For this, we seek, begin, understand the river-city interrelationship over the years, from an investigation of the regional historical context. Subsequently, an analysis of the current landscape of the Manhuaçu River was performed, in terms of application, confronting the collected historical data. After this stage, a behavioral investigation was performed in the space, through questions made with the users and/or residents of studied studies, seeking to understand their perception regarding the participation of the river in the landscape landscape. Note that Manhuaçu's evolutionary process contributed to the river's removal from the city's landscape, resulting in its exclusion from the collective imagination as well. From the questions, the older population has greater affective proximity to the river, to relate to positive memories, while the younger population is associated mainly with negative aspects. This mode allows the reinsertion of the course in the image of the city so that the population can use it in their positive memories.
