Abstract
This dissertation explores the language of lighting as an agent that extends, catalyzes, and enhances the visual perception of urban space. It takes as a reference the fundamental elements of visual and bodily perception in the subject's interaction with the city. Methodologically, a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach was adopted, as a method of data analysis, the paths of iconological analysis were included, exploring the works of the group, aligned with the Phenomenology of the Perception of Space. The study is at the stage of developing the analysis of image records, of the performance Suaveciclo, performed by the collective of audiovisual artists, VJ Suave, in the city of Ouro Preto during the Marte Festival in 2019. The collective uses light as a raw material to intervene and express itself in the urban context at night. The research seeks to problematize the dynamics between subject and urban space, considering public art as an agent that transforms perspectives on the city. Its premise is the importance of light as a language in the work of VJ Suave, who uses projections and techniques such as light painting and picture-in-picture animation. So far, the partial results show that, as well as using light as a raw material, the collective interacts playfully with urban architecture, stimulating the public's imagination and perception. The interventions seek to convey messages of affection and promote a deeper appreciation of the urban environment. Keywords: Embodiment; Light language; Urban space.
