Abstract
This paper studied the determinants of income inequality in the regions Jequitinhonha Valley. Based in a methodology that includes different measures of inequality in the hypothesis testing the Kuznets inverted-U, panel data estimation techniques, it was found that the region has supported important constraints for checking the hypothesis of Kuznets- Oshima. It was also verified that the relationship between the different sectors would be in different stages of the inverted-U function. Therefore, economic policies that envisage the reduction of regional disparities may consider the diversity and stages of development of municipalities.
