Abstract
This thesis analyzes Rural Tourism as an expression of pluriactivity and multifunctionality in the Brazilian agrarian space, using as a case study the Entre Serras Association – Tourism in Rural Areas, located in Lima Duarte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The research was guided by the following research question: which social innovations and social technologies in rural tourism are being implemented in the territories linked to the Entre Serras Association – Tourism in Rural Areas, and how do these practices manifest in the actions and interactions of the different actors involved? Methodologically, the study combined bibliographic and documentary research with a systematic review based on the PRISMA model, semi-structured interviews, field notebook records, and direct observation, with data treatment guided by Bardin’s content analysis (2020). Field research was conducted between 2024 and 2026, during which 11 members of the Entre Serras Association – Tourism in Rural Areas were interviewed, as well as seven representatives of collaborative networks and partner institutions operating in the territory. The results reveal that the social innovations and social technologies implemented by the Entre Serras members translate into new forms of productive and cooperative organization, strengthening social capital, sustainability, and the protagonism of family farmers and neo-rural actors. These practices generate positive impacts on income diversification, cultural valorization, environmental conservation, and territorial education. However, challenges remain related to professionalization in tourist services, Keywords: Pluriactivity; Multifunctionality; Rural Tourism; Social Innovation; Social Technology; Entre Serras Association
