Abstract
The proposal of this article, aimed at teachers and future teachers of mathematics, lies in the field of financial education with sightsto discussing strategies for realizing consumption desires without the acquisition of debt, as well as emphasizing the importance of saving money in order to spend it later. The concern thatgenerated this work arose from the observation of several reports available in the media regarding the high percentage of Brazilian families in debt. Through the Didactic Engineering methodology and the Anthropological Theory of Didactics, the work was structured with the objective of seeking answers that indicate which strategies should be usedto fulfill consumption desires without going into debt.As a dynamic for the activity, we applied to a group of seven undergraduates and recent graduates in Mathematics an activity containing a hypothetical acquisition of an asset. Then, we discussed and reflected on the strategies that aim to fulfill such consumption desires, especially those that indicate some previous planning, to find out if there are alternatives that respond to this concern making use of basic mathematical knowledge, therefore, accessible to teachers and high school students. Thus, this article proposes to sow ideas in Basic Education teachers regarding projects related to Financial Education.
