Introduction: Football is the most popular sport in the world, and although it has come to Brazil through members of the country's elite over the years, it has become a popular activity. With the public having a relevant role during the matches to the show, researchers have shown an interest in the behavior of the fans contributing to a better understanding of the motivations of consumption. Objective: The objective of the study is to analyze the public present in the soccer stadiums, making a comparison of the Brazilian championship with the European leagues. Methodology: The data were collected in a qualitative way, obtained through public information documents and without analytical treatment. Due to documentary limitation, the study used samples from the year 2012 to 2017. Results: The results indicate that the average occupancy rate of Brazilian stadiums between 2012 and 2017 has always been below 45%, with a better performance in 2012 and 2017. In the case of European stadiums, in the last 7 years the average occupation has been high, being driven by the Premier League (94%), Bundesliga (93%) and La Liga (71%). Conclusion:The public present in soccer stadiums in the Brazilian Championship is much lower than the one observed in different European leagues. The great difference of the occupation rate between the main European Leagues and the Brazilian Championship Series A can be explained due to the difficulties to arrive at the place of the game, scheduled time for the matches and the offered services in the soccer stadiums.
