To evaluate the toxic effects of As in Brassicaceae family, seeds of Brassica oleraceae L., Raphanus sativus, Brassica oleraceae var. capitata, Brassica oleraceae var. itálica and Brassica juncea L. (Czern.) were germinated in metalloid presence. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments: control, 350 μMol e 450 μMol, and 450 μMol of arsenic (Na2HAsO4.7H2O), six repetitions. Were evaluated: growth of plants, the accumulation of As in roots and shoots, the morphological changes in roots and leaves and morphometric analyzes in roots and leaves of B. Oleraceae L. And B. juncea. There was uptake of the pollutant by the roots and low translocation to shoots in four of the five species. All species showed reduced growth and some showed accumulation of anthocyanins in leaves and stem. Anatomically, there was no change in the leaves of four of the five species studied, B. juncea the only species that showed damage. The root system of the five species showed morphological changes due to the presence metalloid. The morphometric analysis revealed the arsenic chance the thickness and the proportions of tissues. The most dramatic results were observed at higher concentrations. These date are relevant, specially in anatomical study.
