The objective of this study was to evaluate the healing potential of the leaves of the hexane extract of Vanillosmopsis erythropappa schultz - bip leaves and identify the main constituents by GC/MS. Vanillosmopsis erythropappa schultz - bip de leaf extracts were tested against in vitro cell proliferation stimulation test. By the analysis of the active extract gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC/MS) was detected the presence of important compounds for the cell healing process, such as Lupenone; Lupeol and Friedelan-3-one. The expression of VEGF in the five groups studied and found that those treated with ointment containing V. erythropappa Schultz - Bip extract showed increased expression in groups treated with ointments at concentrations 1% and 3%, thus accelerating the healing process. By the analysis of the active extract by mass spectrometer - coupled liquid chromatography (GC/MS) it was possible to detect the presence of two important flavonoids: Apigenin and Luteoline in the collagen synthesis process type I and III. At the end of treatment, the control groups (G4) and Fitoscar® (G5) had the highest amount of type III fibers, considered immature, and the groups treated with ointments containing 1% and 5% extract (G1 and G3, respectively) higher amount of type I fibers, considered mature, indicating that such formulations were effective for wound healing, with G3 presenting the best result.
