Abstract
This thesis analyzes how Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) and family contexts influence the construction of life projects among adolescents enrolled in high school. It is based on the understanding that the intensive presence of technologies in young people’s daily lives reconfigures forms of communication, socialization, and access to knowledge, thereby affecting choices, expectations, and future trajectories. The central research question investigates how these technologies, in interaction with family dynamics, interfere in the development of the life projects of contemporary adolescents. The study adopts a qualitative approach, phenomenologically inspired and articulated through Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA). The methodological path included a systematic literature review, documentary analysis of the regulations related to the New High School policy in the state of Minas Gerais, the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to third-year high school students, and interviews with adolescents and their family guardians in a state public vocational school located in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. The findings show that DICT play a central role in the construction of life projects, since they broaden adolescents’ repertoires of choice, facilitate access to information, and influence academic and professional expectations. At the same time, tensions emerge regarding excessive use, distraction, the idealization of trajectories, and difficulties of mediation within the family context. The analysis of the metatexts revealed three main axes: digital technologies as mediators of youth development, the ambivalence between the potentialities and risks of digital use, and family mediation as a structuring axis in the relationship between technologies and life projects. It is concluded that the influence of DICT is profound, ambivalent, and socially mediated, requiring school and family practices committed to Critical Technological Literacy aimed at the ethical, reflective, and civic education of adolescents.
