Abstract
Considered by critics as one of the greatest exponents of contemporary Spanish-American literature, the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño launched, in 2002, Una novelita lumpen, set in the Italian capital, Rome. This narrative, little studied by critics, hidesbehind its simplicity interesting and fruitful dialogues with philosophy and sociocultural issues. In this sense, the present article proposes to present this plot from the Nietzschean dichotomy of the Apollonian and the Dionysian, which permeates not only the personal trajectory of its protagonist but can also be extended to a better understanding of our deficient process of globalization that victimizes marginalized and forgotten populations.
