A representação das vanguardas no romance Estrella distante de Roberto Bolaño

Abstract

O escritor chileno Roberto Bolaño traz em seus trabalhos registros da história chilena que surgem a partir da memória individual e coletiva. Para narrar todas essas vivências ele tematiza a vanguarda nas suas ficções: recria as suas experiências como poeta do grupo denominado “infrarrealista” e inclui nas suas narrativas a tensão entre vanguarda política e vanguarda estética, presente na América Latina durante a década de setenta. A hipótese inicial do trabalho é que a vanguarda, além de estar tematizada na produção deste escritor, é a responsável por apresentar as chaves interpretativas de sua narrativa. Com isso, um dos objetivos desta pesquisa é estabelecer a relação entre o movimento vanguardista europeu e latino-americano com as produções narrativas do autor chileno, assim como pesquisar as discussões teóricas sobre o tema e sua projeção narrativa em Estrella distante, romance publicado em 1996. Por meio dos estudos feitos por diferentes teóricos, como Peter Burger, Octavio Paz, Ricardo Piglia, Antoine Compagnon e Renato Poggioli foi possível analisar as discussões centrais sobre as vanguardas para posteriormente identificá-las na produção de Roberto Bolaño. Foi concluído que, por meio desta tematização, Bolaño realiza uma leitura estratégica da vanguarda que revela a partir de qual tradição gostaria de ser lido, além de expor sua visão da América Latina. Levando isso em consideração, a análise de Estrella distante é desenvolvida a partir de quatro abordagens: a primeira busca identificar e analisar as características do gênero policial e os elementos históricos do livro; a segunda toma como base uma outra obra do escritor, La literatura nazi en América, interpretada como ponto de partida e texto de referência da narrativa desenvolvida em Estrella distante; o terceiro ponto de vista adoptado estabelece relações entre os elementos autobiográficos contidos na obra e poemas infrarrealistas escritos por Bolaño na década de setenta; e por fim, é analisada a representação da vanguarda no romance Estrella distante, interpretada como um elemento axial da poética do autor. The Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño brings in his works records of Chilean history that emerge from individual and collective memory. To narrate all these experiences, he thematizes the vanguard in his fictions: he recreates his experiences as a poet of the group called “infrarrealista” and includes in his narratives the tension between political vanguard and aesthetic vanguard, present in Latin America during the seventies. The initial hypothesis of the work is that the avant-garde, in addition to being thematized in the production of this writer, is responsible for presenting the interpretative keys of his narrative. Thus, one of the objectives of this research is to establish the relationship between the European and Latin American avant-garde movement with the narrative productions of the Chilean author, as well as to research the theoretical discussions on the theme and its narrative projection in Estrella distante, a novel published in 1996. Through studies carried out by different theorists, such as Peter Burger, Octavio Paz, Ricardo Piglia, Antoine Compagnon and Renato Poggioli, it was possible to analyze the central discussions about the avant-gardes to later identify them in Roberto Bolaño production. It was concluded that, through this theme, Bolaño performs a strategic reading of the avant-garde that reveals from which tradition he would like to be read, in addition to exposing his vision of Latin America. Taking this into account, Estrella distante analysis is developed from four approaches: the first seeks to identify and analyze the characteristics of the crime genre and the historical elements of the book; the second is based on another work by the writer, La Literatura nazi en América, interpreted as a starting point and reference text for the narrative developed in Estrella distante; the third point of view adopted establishes relationships between the autobiographical elements contained in the work and infrarealist poems written by Bolaño in the seventies; and finally, the representation of the avant-garde in the novel Estrella distante is analyzed, interpreted as an axial element of the author's poetics.
