INTRODUCTION: Agility is one of the most important physical qualities, being present in several sports like Badminton, Basketball, Soccer, Futsal, Handball, Rugby, Volleyball and Tennis. The assessment of this physical quality can help to detect young sports talents or, on the other hand, to identify young people with motor problems, thus helping us to find an early solution. Normative tables are important references for the professional practice of the Physical Educator. In Brazil, there are no normative data for two tests frequently used in the USA and Europe: the Illinois Agility Test (IAT) and T-Test Half (T-TH). OBJECTIVES: (1) Establish normative agility performance curves for IAT and IAT in the high school population; (2) evaluate the level of reproducibility of each test; (3) establish the relationship between the performance achieved in the two agility tests. METODOLOGY: A total of 649 young schoolchildren between the ages of 14 and 18 participated in the study; 289 males (67.79 ± 13.25 kg, 173.9 ± 6.3 cm) and 360 females (F) (60.14 ± 13.17 kg, 162.2 ± 6.2 cm) were recruited at a public high school in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais). Two agility tests were assessed on different days. Part of the sample performed a retest in each protocol. The tests were applied by a single Physical Educator in a outdoor sports court at different times throughout the day, performed without warming up, dressing Physical Education class clothing, without any verbal stimuli, and after a previous approach to familiarize with the test and its dynamics. The IAT was performed by 289 M and 360 F, and the retest was done in 100 M and 87 F. Additionally, 291 M and 293 F participated in the T-TH, and the retest was performed by 130 M and 103 F. The statistical treatment comprised a descriptive analysis of the data, in addition to the percentile values from P5 (5%) to P95 (95%) for performance classification divided into six categories: Excellent; Far above average; Above the average; Regular; Below average; and Far below average. To evaluate the reproducibility, the Student's T-test was performed, as well as Pearson's correlation between test and retest, as well as the comparison between the different tests (IAT vs. T-TH). The Bland & Altman approach was used to evaluate the interclass correlation coefficient between test and retest in each protocol, as well as between the two protocols. RESULTS: The following percentiles were established for IAT in M:Below P5 (< 17.76 seg) for “Excellent;”; between P40 (19.37seg) and P60 (20.24seg) for “Regular”; and over P80 (>21.21 seg) for “Far below average”. For the IAT in F were established: Below P5 (< 20.84 seg) for “Excellent”; between P40 (22.88 seg) and P60 (23.85seg) for “Regular”; and over P80 (> 25,08 seg) for “Far below average”. On the other hand, for T-TH in M:Below P5 (<5.41 seg) for “Excellent”; between P40 (6.33 seg) and P60 (6,65 seg) for “Regular”; and over P80 (>7.08 seg) for Far below average”. Finally, the IAT in F were established: Below P5 (<6.39 seg) for “Excellent”; between P40 (7.28 seg) and P60 (7.53seg) for “Regular”; and over P80 (> 7.84 seg) for “Far below average”. For evaluation of reproductive performance in boys (n = 100) test re-test values for the IAT were 19.45 ± 1.36 vs. 18.85 ± 0.95 seg with a significant difference (p< 0.001) and a correlation of r=0.71.For girls (n = 87) the results were 22.75 ± 1.98 vs. 22.11 ± 1.78 seg with a significant difference ( p < 0.001) and a correlation of r= 0.78.The total of the evaluated in the IAT test and retest (n = 187) pointed an ICC value of 0.936in the Bland Altman approach.Test and retest values for the T-TH in boys (n = 130) were6.32± 0.59 vs. 6.04± 0.66segwith a significant difference ( p < 0.001) and a correlation of r=0.531; For girls (n = 103), results were 7.31± 0.57 vs. 6.98± 0.65 seg with a significant difference ( p < 0.001) and a correlation of r=0.437. The total of the evaluated in the T-TH test and retest (n = 233) pointed an ICC value of 0.809 in the Bland Altman approach. The results of comparing both agility tests (IAT vs. T-TH) were 19.93 ± 1.60 vs. 6.49 ± 0.67 seg with a r = 0.45 in boys and 23.59 ± 2.06 vs. 7.39 ± 0.68 seg with a r = 0,41. CONCLUSIONS: Agility performance curves were elaborated for high school students, according to gender and type of test used, collaborating to detect talent for IAT values lower than or equal to 17.76 sec for boys and 20.84 sec for girls. For TR-T, the values of excellence were with performances lower than or equal to 5.41 sec in boys and 6.39 sec in girls. The IAT presented a good index of reproductivity, being highly recommended its application as test to evaluate the agility in young adolescents of high school. However, T-TH requires a higher level of investigation, because the reproductive indexes were not adequate. It was not possible to establish a clear relationship between IAT vs T-TH.
