Three experiments were developed with Bovans Goldline commercial layers, in the production period. In the one experiment was conducted with the objective to determine the effect of the addition of phytase enzyme on performance and metabolism of laying hens in the period from 24 to 36 weeks of age. Three hundred and sixty laying hens were used, allotted to a completely randomized design, with twelve replicates of six birds per unit and five experimental treatments: T1 = Positive Control (PC), T2 = Negative Control (NC by 0.15% phosphorus available), T3 = NC + 200U of phytase, T4 = NC + 400U of phytase, T5 = NC + 600U of phytase. The positive control diet was formulated to contain adequate nutrient levels following the recommendations of the Brazilian Tables and the negative control diet was calculated reducing the nutrients in agreement to the nutritional matrix of the phytase enzyme. Hens fed with the control diet showed higher positive values for the egg mass (EM) and feed conversion by egg mass (FCEM) when compared to those that were fed with the negative control. However, with the addition of phytase, the FCEM and EM were similar to those found in the diets of positive control and negative control. There was no significant effect for feed conversion per dozen. The parameters of components of eggs were not affected by treatments, except the eggshell weight, which showed an increase with the addition of phytase in the diets. Despite the increase of the apparent digestibility coefficient of dry matter in diets supplemented with 400U of phytase/kg, there was no improvement in retention and excretion of calcium and phosphorus of laying hens. In the second experiment, the effect of adding enzyme xylanase (Econase XT25) on metabolism of nutrients and performance and metabolism of laying hens in the period from 24 to 48 weeks of age was evaluated. Two hundred and eighty-eight laying hens were used, allotted in a completely randomized design with a 2x2 factorial arrangement (two levels of metabolizable energy, being 2900 and 2755 kcal/kg X with or without addition of enzyme xylanase), with twelve replicates of six birds per unit and four experimental treatments: T1 = Positive Control (PC), T2 = Negative Control (NC), T3 = PC + Xylanase (37.5 g/ton) and T4 = NC + Xylanase (37.5 g/ton). Diets in the positive control and PC + Xylanase treatments were formulated to contain adequate nutrient levels (100% metabolizable energy level) following the recommendations of the Brazilian Tables. Diets of negative control and NC + Xilanase treatments were calculated with 5% reduction in metabolizable energy The addition of enzyme xylanase to the negative control diet resulted in layers with egg production and egg mass similar to the layers fed with the positive control diet. The 5% reduction of metabolizable energy resulted in lower egg production, egg mass, worst feed conversion and higher feed intake. The eggs components were not affected by treatments. The average values of corrected apparent metabolizable energy were higher on diets with increased metabolizable energy. The addition of enzyme xylanase provided improvement of the energy use and eggs production of laying hens. The third experiment was made to verify the effect of adding the enzymatic complex (Rovábio®Max) on performance and metabolism of laying hens in the period from 24 to 36 weeks of age. Two hundred and sixteen laying hens were used, allotted to a completely randomized design, with twelve replicates of six birds per unit and three experimental treatments: T1 = Positive Control (PC), T2 = Negative Control (NC), T3 = NC + enzymatic complex (100 g/ton). The positive control diets were formulated to contain adequate nutrient levels following the recommendations of the Brazilian Tables. Diets of negative control and NC + enzymatic complex were calculated reducing the nutrients present in the nutritional matrix of the enzyme complex evaluated. When hens fed with the negative and positive control diets were compared, the addition of enzymatic complex to the negative control diet improved hen-day egg production an feed:gain ratio (Kg/Dz). The reduction in the levels of nutritional diets resulted in lower values of apparent metabolizable energy and corrected apparent metabolizable energy. The supplementation of the enzymatic complex to diets with lower levels improved the nutritional values of metabolizable energy, resulting in values similar to those presented by the hens fed with the positive control diet. Layers fed with the positive control diet showed higher phosphorus intake, excretion and retention (mg/bird/day); however, there was greater retention of phosphorus (%) by birds that received supplemented diets with the enzymatic complex. The use of the enzymatic complex was efficient in laying hens diets for the increase in the percentage of egg production, improved feed conversion per dozen and the increase in AME and retention of phosphorus in diets nutritionally deficient.
