O Tratamento 35o C EH causou menor eficiência fotoquímica do fotossistema II (Fv/Fm).
The response and sensitivity to ethylene are dependent on the stage of development, variety and perceived by the plant organ. The value and the acceptability of potted plants depend mainly on longevity in the post-production stage which is influenced by pre and post-harvest treatments and environmental conditions. The objective was to evaluate the factors that affect the quality during development and in the post- production of ornamental pepper species Capsicum annuum L. cultivated in pots. The effects of exposure to ethylene and the efficiency of the use of ethylene action inhibitors (1-MCP and STS) have been studied to minimize the effects produced by the stresses in three stages of development and longevity of the pepper varieties 'Calypso' and 'MG 302'. Were evaluated the effects of low and high temperature and water stress in merchantability of plants during the post-production of the variety 'MG 302'. As for the ethylene sensitivity levels, the variety 'Calypso' is highly sensitive and variety 'MG 302' was intermediate. The most effective treatment to slow the action of ethylene on developmental stages studied was spraying with 2 mmol of silver thiosulfate (STS), who failed to submit leaf abscission for 36 days after treatment application in the initial growth period, in both varieties. Treatment with STS + Ethylene was effective only in the initial growth period in the variety 'Calypso' and flowering early stage in the variety 'MG 302', for the other development stages caused phytotoxicity. Treatment with 1 μL L -1 of 1- methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and 1-MCP + ethylene were more effective in the variety 'MG 302' in the three development stages studied. In the post-production of 'MG 302' the following treatments were applied: control, low temperature (5° C), high temperature (35° C), low temperature with water stress (5° C EH) and high temperature with stress water (35° C EH). There was decrease in total chlorophyll contents (ICHL) and nitrogen balance index (NBI) in the control and treatment 5o C. The leaves, flowers and fruits abscission percentages increased significantly after treatments 5° C EH and 35° C EH. There was higher accumulation of carbohydrates (soluble sugars, reducing sugars and non-reducing sugars) in the treatment 35° C EH. The starch content decreases in all treatments. Cellular damage evaluated by xelectrolyte leakage and quantification of malondialdehyde (MDA) were more expressive in treatments 35° C, 5° C EH and 35° C EH. Regarding the pigments, there was a slight increase in the a and total chlorophyll concentration in the treatments 35° C and 35° C EH. In the treatment 35o C EH occurred significant increase of carotenoids. Regarding the pigment, there was a small increase in the a and total chlorophyll concentration in the treatments 35° C and 35° C EH. In addition to the treatment 35° C EH showed a high accumulation of carotenoids. Photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration and water potential (Ψ w ) decreased significantly in the treatments with water stress, while these same treatments were increased internal CO 2 concentration and Ci/Ca. The treatment 35° C EH showed lower photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (Fv/Fm).
