Os convênios internacionais entre a universidade de purdue e uremg/ufv: a ciência em rede (1958-1973)

Abstract

No contexto internacional do pós-guerra, com a divisão da hegemonia econômica entre Estados Unidos e União Soviética, a ajuda externa à América Latina torna-se objeto de interesse dos americanos. Assim, convênios com instituições educacionais ligadas à agricultura foram firmados para abrir maiores possibilidades de negócios entre os dois países. Dessa forma, uma rede científica que envolveu diversos atores foi firmada para possibilitar a construção da ciência na Universidade Rural de Minas Gerais (UREMG) – posteriormente, Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Portanto, o objetivo é compreender a natureza da relação institucional da Universidade de Purdue e a UREMG/UFV para, assim, problematizar as consequências das associações entre esses dois atores na produção tecno-científica no contexto da modernização da agricultura.

In the international context of post-war, with the division of economic hegemony between the U.S. and Soviet Union, foreign aid to Latin America becomes the object of interest of Americans. Thus, partnerships with educational institutions related to agriculture were signed to open greater possibilities for business between the two countries. Thus, a scientific network that involved several actors was established to enable the construction of science in Rural University of Minas Gerais (UREMG) – later, Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). Therefore, the objective is to understand the nature of institutional relations at Purdue University and UREMG / UFV to thus question the consequences of associations between these two actors in the techno-scientific production in the context of the modernization of agriculture.
