Four experiments of metabolic assay were realized with the objective of determining the bromatological composition, digestibilility and energy values of some feedstuff for swine in the growing and finishing phases. The first and the second assays has the objective of determine the bromatological composition, dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), starch (ST), crude fiber (CF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and mineral matter (MM) and the values of gross energy (GE), digestible energy (DE), metabolize energy (ME) and metabolize energy corrected by nitrogen balance (MEn), as well the digestibility coefficients of dry matter (DMDC), organic matter (OMDC), ether extract (EEDC), crude fiber (CFDC), neutral detergent fiber (NDFDC) and acid detergent fiber (ADFDC) of 15 vegetable origin feedstuff: sugar, cotton seed meal 28%, cotton seed meal 38%, fat rice bran, corn starch, broken rice, integral cassava scrapes, corn grain, corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal, soybean meal 45%, extruded integral soybean, micronized soybean, wheat bran and sorghum. for swine in growing and finishing phases. 180 castrated male swine were used, 90 animals in each phase. In the growing xivphase the initial avarage weight was 34,51 ± 5,6 kg and in the finishing phase the avarage initial weight was 72,44 ± 8,33 kg, distributed in an entirely random experiment delineament, in a factorial arrangement 2 x 15 (phases x treatments), with three repetitions per treatment and one animal as experimental unit. The substitution method was adopted with total collection of feces and urine for the metabolic assay. Variation was observed in the bromatological composition among the studied feedstuffs. This variation is normal, mainly when took into account the diversity of origin of these feedstuffs. There was significant effect (P <0,05) of the weight of the animals on the values of DE and ME, the means of growing and finishing phases and its respective coefficients (in parentheses) of digestibility and metabolizability were: 3502 ± 198 (82,00 ± 5,6) and 3614 ± 193(84,80 ± 4,6); 3350 ± 196(78,50 ± 5,9) and 3490 ± 181(81,90 ± 4,3). Differences were observed among the phases (P <0,05), for DMDC and CFDC, being the mean values observed in finishing phase superiors to the growing phase, the mean values of the growing and finishing phases were respectively, 79,0 ± 4,4 and 81,9 ± 4,1; 40,1 ± 4,6 and 44,7 ± 4,7; also interaction feedstuff x phase was observed for the mean values of each phase, follows the nutrients and feedstuffs where there were interaction and the respective mean values in the growing and finishing phases, NDFDC of integral extruded soybean, 78,5 and 88,0, corn gluten feed, 51,6 and 61,0 and corn grain, 72,6 and 88,2. The second and fourth assays had as objective determine the bromatological composition, dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), crude fiber (FB) and mineral matter (MM) and the values of gross energy (GE), digestible energy (DE), metabolize energy (ME) and metabolize energy corrected by nitrogen balance (MEn), as well the digestibility coefficients of dry matter (DMDC), organic matter (OMDC) and ether extract (EEDC) of animal origin feedstuff, soybean oil and beef tallow: meat and bone meal 38% and xv41%, fish meal, hidrolized feathers meal, poultry by product, soybean meal and beef tallow. 84 castrated male swine were used, 42 animals in each phase. In the growing phase swine avarage initial weight was 34,51 ± 5,6 kg, and in the finishing phase avarage initial weight was 72,44 ± 8,33 kg, distributed in an entirely random experiment delineament, in a factorial arrangement 2 x 15 (phases x treatments), with three repetitions per treatment and one animal as experimental unit. The substitution method was adopted with total collection of feces and urine for the metabolic assay. The variation in the chemical composition of animal origin feedstuff was superior to observed when vegetal origin feedstuff were studied. There was not significant effect (P> 0,05) of the weight of the animals on the values DE, ME and MEn, however it was observed there was tendency to a increase of DE, ME and MEn for finishing phase swine. It was observed significant differentiates (P <0,05) for MODC, being the mean value of the finishing phase (79,3 ± 9,2) superior to the of the growing phase (71,2 ± 3,8). differences were not observed among the phases (P> 0,05), for DMDC, CPDC and EEDC. Demonstrating that the animals, although of different weights (34,5 and 74,4 kg), it presented similar digestive capacity. However there was in most of the cases tendency for a better use of the nutrients for the animals of the finishing phase compared to the animals of the growing phase.
